Handel: Israel In Egypt / Bramall, Cornelius, et al

Album Summary

>Handel, George Frideric : Israel in Egypt, oratorio, HWV 54
Performers Conductor Ensembles Composer

Notes & Reviews:

Handel will always be associated with his Messiah. But of course he wrote quite a number of other oratorios as well. "Israel in Egypt" - originally entitled "Exodus" - is one of them. It was written in just one month immediately after "Saul". With three parts it has an unusual form. This is one of only two oratorios Handel based on texts from the Bible. The Chamber Choir of Europe has quickly become of the leading chamber choirs of Europe. The singers are joined here by a cast of equally young vocal soloists. Together with the Orchester der Deutschen Händel-Solisten they give a warm-blooded performance. Complete texts in English and German included. Also extensive liner notes.
