Notes & Reviews:

Celeste Zewald studied the clarinet at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, with Herman Braune and George Pieterson. Her breakthrough as a chamber music performer came at the Vriendenkrans-Competition 2001. At this well-known competition (organized by the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) she won First Prize, and almost all of the other prizes, including the Audience Prize, the Eduard van Beinum Prize and the Press Award. After winning the Philip Morris Award in 2002, she performed throughout Europe and in the United States at Carnegie Hall, in the prestigious Rising Stars concert series. Celeste Zewald is clarinetist for Het Brabants Orkest and a member of various chamber music ensembles, with which she gives many concerts and has recorded several CDs. She teaches at the Conservatory of Utrecht and plays regularly as a soloist with numerous orchestras.
