Notes & Reviews:

BBC Music Magazine Disc of the Month, May 2007. "The first fruit of Handel's early collaborations with Italian musicians in Rome, this sublime cantata is an allegorical rebuke to Beauty from Enlightenment and Time, for hanging out too much with Pleasure. Sung by the enchanting French soprano Natalie Dessay, Beauty (Bellezza) gets the best tunes, not least her penitential closing aria, but Pleasure (Piacere) in the shape of the fine Swedish mezzo Ann Hallenberg runs her close. Emmanuelle Haim and her Astree virtuosi are also on top form." -The Guardian
