Notes & Reviews:
"Most of the pieces on this disc are arrangements of Italian opera arias, rendered in Alessi's beautiful legato tone. The accompaniments are nicely varied, ranging from straightforward piano to accordion to harp to brass quintet, trombone choir, and beyond. Homogeneity is the danger in a disc like this, but the creative arrangements allow Alessi to easily avoid it. The centerpiece is the Napoli Variations, arranged for Alessi and the Julliard Trombone Choir. The piece elicits virtuosic playing from all involved - it's everything a brass showpiece should be. It's tempting to file this one under 'guilty pleasure,' but I'm confident this disc would appeal to absolutely anyone who just likes to kick back and enjoy a good melody from time to time. Warmly recommended." -H&B
