This "live" 2CD set adds important new recordings to the discography of Silvestri and the Bournemouth Symphony and follows on from the recently issued 2CD set from June 2006 (BBC CD 4182) described by International Record Review as "an absorbing and welcome release". None of these titles except Debussy's La Mer were recorded in the studio commercially. The La Mer in this recording is far superior sonically than the Paris Conservatoire version. Totally new to the Silvestri discography. The set, all recorded live in very good mono sound and taken from the Wessex Archive represent another chance to sample this rare but magnetic conductor's work.
