Notes & Reviews:

Portrait of the Artist is Deutsche Grammophon's "2 for 1" series focusing on great artists. One of the outstanding pianists of his generation, Grammy® award-winning Evgeny Kissin made recordings with Deutsche Grammophon in the late 80s and early 90s. This 2 CD package includes an album of solo repertoire on CD 1 while CD 2 captures Kissin in performances with orchestra. Includes many tracks that are available on CD for the first time.

BBC Music Magazine
The young Kissin has a phenomenal technique and no inhibitions about displaying it. But the Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 is, thanks to Karajan, slow and turgid. And the deeper pieces reveal no understanding.
