Notes & Reviews:

A continuation of the critically acclaimed Haydn cycle conducted by Thomas Fey. Born in 1960, Fey was a student of Nikolaus Harnoncourt from 1988 to 1991 at the Salzburg Mozarteum and also studied under Leonard Bernstein. The Heidelberg Symphony produces idiomatic performances of these immortal symphonies with a unique and judicious blend of modern and period instruments, demonstrating that Haydn's music-like all great historic music-must dwell both in the past and present to be viable.
