Notes & Reviews:
Mirare presents a new recording of Faure's wonderfully evocative Requiem, in the version for small orchestra of 1893, recorded at the Abbaye Royale at Fontevraud. Faure and Messager enjoyed a close friendship. In the summer of 1881 the two men collaborated on a missa brevis known as the Messe des pêcheurs de Villerville (Mass of the Fisherman of Villerville). Messager was assigned the Kyrie and O salutaris, while Faure composed the other sections. 794881822621
