Notes & Reviews:

Christian Thielemann, hailed as one of the world's finest interpreters of German Romantic repertoire, has recorded an album of two of the era's symphonic masterpieces: Johannes Brahms' Symphony no. 1 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Egmont Overture. This is Thielemann's third live recording project with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, following his debut concert with Bruckner's Symphony no. 5 in 2005 and Mozart's Requiem in 2006.

Gramophone Magazine
Memorable performance of Beethoven's superb Egmont Overture are rare than one might imagine but this Thielemann performance is exceptional... The Brahms is even more unashamedly "old school", painted from a full, dark palette of sound colours, richly applied and finely blended after the manner of the great colourists of the past... The recording is superb.
