Notes & Reviews:
Despite his renown, Gyorgy Ligeti's Six Bagatelles was the kind of piece that was basically used by wind players to show that they could tackle something beyond Franz Danzi and Anton Reicha! Now it's considered a cornerstone of the wind quintet repertoire. This Cd also contains one of Janacek's major chamber pieces, a work by one of Janacek's pupils (yet another artistic casualty of the Second World War) and an early work by one of Hungary's most important living composers.
