The requirements of a performance more in keeping with the canons of the 17th century prompted Beasley and Morini to propose a kind of dramatized concert that brought out the theatrical aspects and transformed the singer into a character. In addition, they accepted the challenge of creating an instrumental costume tailormade for the pieces on the program, bringing the performance closer to the descriptions found in contemporary treatises. This 1998 concert from Austrian Radio presents this remarkable group in a concert of both "classic" pieces and innovative improvisations in the style of early music.
