Notes & Reviews:

"I have come to admire this performance a great deal. The sound is terrific, a bit close, but very natural, though it requires one note of caution. The symphony was recorded at a low level, and the engineering has produced a wide dynamic range, so resist the temptation to turn down the volume during the opening march. Otherwise, the performance will sound tame. The Lady Macbeth Suite presents three intervals from the opera. It has more immediate jump and is recorded at a higher level. This is said to be the first recording of this particular suite, though I've heard at least one other. It's an exciting bonus that may surprise you with its brilliance and aggressiveness (however refined) after the more carefully scaled symphony." -ARG
