Notes & Reviews:
"This is wonderful. All three quintets are unusual in that they use a string bass, just as Schubert did in his 'Trout Quintet'. This adds a certain weightiness to the overall tone that is attractive... They may not be well known, but these young musicians are clearly talented. They also believe that period instruments should be used and they make their case most compellingly... All three of these quintets deserve to be better known. They are imaginatively played and very well recorded here." -American Record Guide
Onslow delights us again and so does the inspirational Hummel. With their gut strings and the lighter bass register of the fortepiano blending perfectly with the double bass, the Nepomuks remove any accumulated grime from the canvas to reveal Hummel's original colours.
