Notes & Reviews:

This is the first in a CD series intended to document the period between Brahms's move to Vienna in 1869 and the musical innovations that culminated in Schoenberg's twelve-tone method in the 1920s. German-born cellist Johannes Moser won the twelfth Tchaikovsky Competition in 2002. His US debut with the Chicago Symphony in 2005 generated a standing ovation.
