Notes & Reviews:

With this CD, the critically acclaimed Beethoven sonata cycle from Gerhard Oppitz is complete. Throughout his distinguished career, Oppitz has established his deep understanding of Beethoven's idiom and brings a lifetime of experience to commit these works to disc. He is one of today's leading exponents of the German school of classical piano. His mentor, the great German pianist Wilhelm Kempff, personally designated him as heir-apparent to the tradition.

Gramophone Magazine
Oppitz truly gives his all in the Hammerklavier. He brings impressive power, sweep and seasoned technique to the outer movements. One might prefer a more biting, angular Scherzo, yet Oppitz's weighty, expansively phrased Adagio sostenuto does not drag in the least.
