Remarks:
In 1945, Eduard van Beinum succeeded Willem Mengelberg as only the second conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and he remained in that position until his death in 1959. Despite the fact that his early tenure was clouded with controversy over his alleged Nazi sympathies, the great Dutch conductor received worldwide acclaim and is now particularly famous for his interpretations of Bruckner. This disc of previously unreleased live recordings from 1956 features two concertos played by the great English pianist Myra Hess.Reviews
