A pupil of Marcel Dupre at the Paris Conservatoire, Litaize was one of the most important French organists of the 20th century. For more than 30 years he supervised liturgical music for French radio, and championed the music of his friends Messaien and Alain. He also composed in all forms but produced his greatest output for his own instrument.
