Notes & Reviews:

The piano played a central role in Schubert’s creativity, and the great number of works he wrote for piano four-hands is significant. Schubert’s four-hand music was written for active music making in small circles, and can be regarded as musical entertainment in the highest sense of that concept. This new release includes one of Franz Liszt’s later arrangements of Schubert’s four-hand piano marches from Op. 40 and Op. 121. The Cologne Piano Duo has won numerous international competitions in the US, France, and Italy. Their artistic specialization is in important but little know classic, romantic, and contemporary music, as well as the standard works for two pianos and for one piano four-hands.
