Notes & Reviews:

Akira Nishimura studied at the Tokyo National Conservatory of Fine Arts and Music and is currently a Professor at the Tokyo College of Music. He was also a pupil of Asiatic traditional music, religion, aesthetics and cosmology. Meditative and languid, but filled with tension and striking harmonic effects, his music reflects all of these elements. These recent works also incorporate some more traditional influences; indeed, the East-Asian Fantasy and the Fanfare for Orchestra often display an almost cinematic grandeur.
