Notes & Reviews:

Britain’s best-selling choir of the 21st Century, The Sixteen, releases a new album of music inspired by the Virgin Mary. Harry Christophers, the most prolific choral conductor of modern times, directs the choir performing a disc of Marian songs ranging from medieval composers like Palestrina, and Lassus through Bruckner and Liszt, all the way to modern times, including a world premiere work by Margaret Rizza, 'Ave Generosa'. The choir’s repertoire never deviates from the core classical cannon. And so Christophers is delighted that, through the choir’s renewed profile and enlarged fanbase, they can prove to the world with this recording that There’s still Something About Mary...

A Mother's Love is the third UCJ album for this award-winning, world-renowned choir. They won a Classical Brit Award for the previous UCJ recording Renaissance, and have also received the Grand Prix du Disque for Handel's Messiah, and the coveted Gramophone Award for Early Music. Directed by Harry Christophers, The Sixteen here perform a programme of music devoted to the Virgin Mary, with pieces from medieval composers Palestrina and Lassus, through Bruckner and Liszt, and to modern times with a World Premiere work by the Taize-inspired composer Margaret Rizza, Ave Generosa. The Sixteen are an internationally-renowned choir, touring regularly throughout Europe, Japan, Australia and America
