As a sequel to their acclaimed recording of the 'Stabat Mater' settings by Vivaldi and Pergolesi, Carlos Mena and the Ricercar Consort led by Philippe Pierlot turn to the more intimate but equally moving version by the unfairly neglected Giovanni Felice Sances (1600-1679). The program is filled out with motets to the Virgin composed by the Italian musicians who held the post of Kapellmeister at the Viennese court of Leopold I, as well as a 'Regina Coeli' by the Emperor himself.
