Notes & Reviews:

For many music lovers the ten-year partnership of Begona Uriarte and Karl-Hermann Mrongovius has become the benchmark for piano duos. Composers have entrusted premieres of their works to them and international critics regale them with superlatives. This unusual recital reminds us that Brahms arranged most of his key works for either piano four hands or for two pianos. This work was first conceived as a string quartet, later rethought as a quintet, and then published in the version heard here.
