One of music’s greatest gifts is its power to bring us joy. In this new recording, pianist Yael Weiss performs over a dozen tracks with some of the most joyful music ever written. Included are new solo piano adaptations of J.S. Bach’s 'Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring' and Bellini’s 'Tutto e Gioia', as well as classics such as Debussy’s 'L’Isle Joyeuse' and uplifting favorites by Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Chabrier and Scarlatti. The CD also features lesser-known (but no less joyful!) gems by composers such as Davico, Halffter and Persichetti. For those already familiar with Yael Weiss’s intimate and evocative Schumann interpretations this new recording offers a chance to experience a different and delightful side of this remarkable pianist’s artistry.
