Notes & Reviews:
Carus' survey of Buxtehude's vocal works continues. For the Passion celebration of 1680, he composed his greatest oratorio-like work, 'Membra Jesu nostri', dedicated to his friend Gustav Duben, the Swedish Court Composer. Under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann, the solo ensemble and the Dresden Chamber Choir have produced an exceptionally moving performance of this rare work. The CD is rounded off by world premiere performances of two choral cantatas, further proof of the genius of this composer from Lubeck in the 300th anniversary of his death.
