Lisa Smirnova was born in Moscow in 1972 and had piano lessons with Anna Kantor and Lev Naumov. Since 1991 she has been a student in the master-class of Karl-Heinz Kammerling at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 1991-93 she won several prizes in international competitions. She made her US debut in 1992 at Carnegie Hall, in Japan at Suntory Hall, and in 1993 with the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and as a chamber musician at Wigmore Hall. Her repertoire features a range from Bach to Ligeti. The young artist has established an excellent reputation, especially with remarkable interpretations of works of the "Wiener Klassik" and Schubert.
