Notes & Reviews:

These composers are representative of the generation of the so-called "classicists" of Bulgarian music. Although they were all educated in Western Europe and had ample opportunities to pursue successful musical careers outside of Bulgaria, they chose to return to their native country. These violin and piano works are a prime example of the three composers' distinct styles. Born in Varna, Bulgaria, Yana Burova began playing violin at five and was already winning awards as a student. She later studied at the Guildhall School in London, as did her Sofia-born accompanist Vesselina Tchakarova.
