Here is another in the wonderful Priory/Alpha reissue series. The music chosen for this recording was (and probably still is!) characteristic of that which features in the day-to-day celebration of the offices in Peterborough Cathedral. Although varying in style and period - including works from the 16th and 20th centuries - unification and coherence is achieved by a selection of anthems and motets. These trace, in broad outline, the course of the Christian Year from Advent, through Christmas, Passiontide and Easter to Whitsuntide, encompassing the foundation of the early Church, the confirmation of its apostolic mission and the visionary concept of the festival of All Saints.
