Album Summary
Performer
Dmitry Sitkovetsky (Violin)
Notes & Reviews:
Celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra enjoys international renown for its "velvet" strings, "golden" brass and unique woodwinds. Under Mariss Jansons, the ensemble's rare unity and responsiveness create a single voice to be "played" by a conductor. The result - as this thrilling recording attests - is the rapturous music-making that is the RCO hallmark. As the centerpiece of this all-French program, violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky gives a muscular reading of Henri Dutilleux's 'L’Arbre des songes' - a work in which the solo part is deftly woven into the overall orchestral scheme.
