This collection of music for soprano and organ centers around works by Jose Maria Beobide (1882-1967) and his contemporaries. Beobide was a noted Spanish organist, composer and educator who taught at the Conservatory in Pamplona and became deputy director. He was a member of the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the Diego de Velazquez Institute and the Institucion Fernan-Gonzalez at the Burgos Academy of History and the Fine Arts. He was also awarded the Cross of Alfonso X el Sabio. Most of his compositions are short, composed with both the constraints of the liturgy and the abilities of amateur organists in mind, although there are works of great elegance and virtuosity among them.
