Notes & Reviews:

It should bother no one that the notes are in German and French only; what does matter is we get to hear the great French organist Pierre Cochereau (1924-1984) in an unusual recital featuring works by Otto Barblan and Henri Gagnebin and an interview with the organist. Cochereau studied with both Maurice Durufle and Marcel Dupre and was famed not only for his interpretations of the French and German organ repertoire but also for his remarkable improvisations. One of his final, celebrated discs was one of the first digital recordings of the Saint-Saens "Organ Symphony" with von Karajan.
