This is the first in a series of recordings of Australian composers performing their own music. Elena Kats-Chernin is a formidable pianist with a huge range of colors and an alluring gift for melody. A native of Russia, Kats-Chernin arrived in Australia in 1975 and enrolled at the Sydney Conservatory. This was followed by a period of study in Germany before she returned to Sydney in 1994.
