Album Summary
Performer
Jörgen Van Rijen (Trombone)
Notes & Reviews:
The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is famous throughout the world for their legendary performance debuts of works by Mahler and Strauss at the beginning of the twentieth century. Exploring new musical horizons remains a key part of the group's mission. The compositions by Theo Verbey, Moritz Eggert, Colin Matthews and Detlev Glanert presented here (the first three having been written specially for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) attest to the orchestra's steadfast willingness to foster the work of young composers. An enthusiastic advocate of new music, conductor Markus Stenz also leaves his own unmistakable stamp on these live recordings, which are presented here in glorious five-channel surround sound.
