Notes & Reviews:
One of the group of composers who has been forced into the background because he was not a follower of the 12-tone school, Hans Gal was a classmate of Erich Kleiber at the Gymnasium in Vienna. Following the World War I he was able to establish a reputation as a fine composer. Forced by the Nazis out of Austria, he immigrated to Great Britain where he became a professor at the University of Edinburgh.
