Album Summary
Notes & Reviews:
Recorded between 1948 and 1951, this disc confirms Busch's reputation as a great conductor of the Austro-Germanic repertoire. Dismissed by the Nazis from the Dresden State Opera in 1933, he accepted conducting engagements in Denmark, Sweden and England. During the war Busch conducted mainly in South America and in 1945 made his debut as conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, serving there regularly until 1949. Almost 60 years after these performances were captured by the Danish Radio engineers, we can appreciate anew the master of Busch's performances.
