Album Summary
Conductors Ensembles ComposersNotes & Reviews:
The phrase "widely and greatly loved" is often bandied about in speaking of musicians, but in the case of Kathleen Ferrier, the Lancashire-born English contralto who died of cancer at the age of 42, the phrase is wholly appropriate. Her career lasted barely ten years, but during that relatively brief time she became the finest and most widely admired contralto in the world.
