Notes & Reviews:

'The Truth About Love' is the debut release by young British mezzo-soprano Frances Bourne. This eagerly anticipated album features songs by Britten, Weill and Martinu recorded here for the first time. Ms. Bourne chose this repertoire believing it encourages both performer and audience to relax and enjoy the music they are hearing. Beneath the surface of the toe-tapping accessibility for many of the songs, there are darker, more challenging elements lurking below. These songs explore aspects of the whole gamut of emotions that make up the concept of love, from the loss of a loved one, the anticipation of meeting a lover, betrayal, nostalgia, hope and despair.
