Notes & Reviews:

Leonard Bernstein was one of the most influential figures in the history of American classical music, championing the works of American composers and inspiring the careers of a generation of musicians. This disc features a live concert from 1958 that was broadcast on Radio France. Along with another performance and recording from the same year featuring Carl Schuricht, it marked the return of Mahler's second Symphony to French concert halls after a haitus of over half a century. Also included is Bernstein's premiere recording of Marius Constant's Preludes for Orchestra.
