Notes & Reviews:

Pianist Walter Gieseking began his career as an accompanist and opera coach, but later on made a name for himself on the recital circuit as a proponent of modern composers such as Schoenberg, Busoni, Szymanowski, and Hindemith. This 8-CD set, however, focuses mainly on works by Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and Ravel, music for which Gieseking has come to be remembered as an unsurpassed interpreter.
