Remarks:
In an earlier Dutton recording of York Bowen's violin concerto, a critic compared Lorraine McAslan's playing with that of Heifetz. On this CD she is heard in three little-known violin concertos in performances of rare eloquence. McAslan offers a gripping readings of Arnell's Concerto in One Movement, Guirne Creith's lyrical and engaging concerto (recently discovered) and Thomas Pitfield's tuneful Concerto Lirico from a time when it was not okay to be so heart-on-sleeve.Reviews
