Notes & Reviews:

Similar to Volume 1, this extensive set of English, French and Italian Madrigals includes recordings that are not subject to the whims of performance practice - these interpretations are timeless, charming and astonishingly virtuosic. Most of this material has been out of print for over a decade, and much of it was never released in the United States. Madrigals from the English masters are a specialty, and these recordings fill a great hole in the world of recorded vocal music. The Deller Consort popularized the madrigal, and even elevated it to an art form. These Vanguard recordings are indispensable.
