Asturias in north-western Spain is a land of dramatic contrasts with an ancient cultural heritage. Award-winning Spanish composer Anton Garcia Abril and writer Jose Leon Delestal drew from the rich folklore of this region for their evocative song cycle 'Madre Asturias'. Originally scored for orchestra, these fourteen songs are here performed with piano, heightening the intimate relationship between the voice of Asturian lyrical tenor Joaquin Pixan and Spanish pianist Rosa Torres-Pardo.Reviews
