Notes & Reviews:
When the name "Bach" is mentioned today, it is Johann Sebastian Bach that automatically comes to mind, perhaps sometimes Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach as well. That was not always the case. The reception of the Bach family in Europe since the later eighteenth century is an interesting subject. Johann Sebastian was for the most part forgotten, and he remained the "great" Bach only for a few insiders. The Bach family composed a lot for flute, in a variety of combinations and Barthold Kuijken has recorded a large part of it for Accent.
