Handel died on April 14, 1759, exactly 250 years ago in April 2009. On Palm Sunday of this year (April 5 and 11, 2009) the Choir of King's College, Cambridge under Stephen Cleobury will perform Handel's Messiah - one of the most popular works for choir, orchestra & soloists - in the magnificent surroundings of King's College Chapel, one of the jewels of Britain's cultural and architectural heritage. King's and Stephen Cleobury will be joined by soloists of the Royal Opera House and the Academy of Ancient Music. To celebrate this momentous event (and the Handel Anniversary), EMI Classics is rush releasing the recording of this concert, which will surely be one of the performances of the year!
