Notes & Reviews:

The music on this album emphasizes the American ideals of freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom of education, preservation of our environment, and conservation of our cultural heritage. Recorded by The United States Air Force Band, American Treasures is comprised of a series of works that are musical symbols of America and some of the most significant compositions for band since the mid-20th century.

American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Roger Nixon's 'Fiesta del Pacifico' (1966) is an old favorite. Richard Rodney Bennett's Suite of Old American Dances (1949) was no favorite of mine when I was in school bands, but I sure do enjoy hearing it played by bands as good as this one. Vittorio Giannini's Symphony 3 (1958) is a landmark band work. Ron Nelson's 'Aspen Jubilee' (1984) is colorful, Frank Ticheli's 'Shenandoah' (1998) is mellow, and William Schuman's harmonically rich 'American Hymn' (1980) ends the album with a really glorious chord.
