Remarks:
Born in 1861, Alcock was not driven to compose. What he did compose was in the highest traditions of its class but the lure of his hobbies, like his model engines, proved too strong. His ambition in life was to be organist of Salisbury Cathedral and he achieved this ambition, as only one aspect of a varied and remarkable career in music.Reviews
