Album Summary
Conductor Ensemble ComposerNotes & Reviews:
Born in New Zealand, Ross Pople first came to London as a gifted 16-year-old cellist. He quickly moved to the top of the profession, becoming successively principal cello of the Menuhin Festival Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. By the 1980s these two contrasting experiences had led to his development as director and conductor of his own orchestra, the London Festival Orchestra. With the LFO, Ross Pople has recorded works spanning more than three centuries. The Hebrides Overture is a special gem from Mendelssohn, and along with the famous Italian Symphony, this is an album to be treasured.
