A classic naive release featuring music by the living legend, Pierre Boulez, performed by the late highly acclaimed pianist, Claude Helffer and Orchestre National de Lyon under the direction of David Robertson. Pianist Claude Helffer, acclaimed for his advocacy of 20th century music, performs Boulez's piano sonatas. Pierre Boulez is one of the most important musical and intellectual figures of the 20th century. As a composer, he wrote a new chapter in the history of music in the fifties, particularly with Le Marteau sans Maîtres and as a conductor, he gave contemporary music its rightful status and renovated many masterpieces of symphony and opera (Wagner, Bruckner, Mahler, Debussy, Stravinsky, Bartok and others). His recordings have earned him a total of 26 Grammys and vast numbers of other prestigious awards.
