Performer Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

"Much of the repertoire was created by composer/arranger friends, but most of it was done by members of the quintet. This recording presents music exclusive to the Brass Arts Quintet and showcases the considerable talents of various members of the quintet." - R. Winston Morris, tuba

American Record Guide, November/December 2013
The rest of the program consists of arrangements in classical and jazz genres. Handel's bustling 'Arrival of the Queen of Sheba' is a brass quintet favorite. Charles Ives's Variations on America makes serious technical and dramatic demands that the players handle well. Puccini's great aria 'Che Gelida Manina' (La Boheme) is nicely arranged by Decker. After Herbert L Clarke's cornet solo 'Bride of the Waves', the program takes a turn and shows the group's skill and ease in popular and jazz favorites. Their ease and creativity in improvised solos is impressive.

Notes & Reviews:

Personnel: Chris McCormick (trumpet); R. Winston Morris (tuba).
