This wide-ranging and enterprising disc is probably one of the best ways to introduce yourself to 20th century organ music. While including some familiar repertoire items, there are enough novelties to spark the attention of the aficionados too. David Heller has risen to prominence as an outstanding organist and pedagogue in the United States. An active recitalist, he has performed throughout the US, Canada and Europe. The organ featured here, built by the Rosales Organ Builders Inc., dates from 1986 and is an impressive instrument, perfectly suited to this original and enjoyable program.
