Notes & Reviews:

Although the concerti selected for this recording are in the four-movement concerto grosso tradition, Telemann has given each work a unique character, without once repeating himself. For this CD, the Holland Baroque Society is joined by guest artist Alexis Kossenko. Kossenko is one of the very few flautists to perform on all the historical forms of his instrument. Here, he not only plays the solo parts but also leads the ensemble and sets the artistic tone for the recording.

"Telemann was much more than just a composer; in fact, he held countless different positions in fields ranging from music to journalism to education and beyond. The result was a man of much world experience and breadth of experience, which translated directly into the diversity of his music. It is only appropriate then that this Channel Classics album of the Holland Baroque Society's performance of a selection of Telemann's concerti and Ouverture be directed by another broadly experienced musician: Alexis Kossenko. The result is delightful music played with an abundance of academic understanding, magnificent attention to detail, and a wealth of energy Although the ensemble is relatively small, it plays with an impressively round, powerful sounda highly recommended album." - All Music Guide

Gramophone Magazine
When played with the expertise and natural good taste demonstrated by these young players, only pleasure can ensue. The orchestral sound strikes a perfect balance between weight and clarity, ensemble is spot-on and the soloists are all of high quality...The recording, too, could not be cleaner or more pleasing to the ear.

The Observer
This disc shows how skilful and ingenious were [Telemann's] many concertos...From the terrific Cyclopes of the Ouverture right through to the popular dance at the end of the final concerto, there's variety in plenty
